A new charity has been developed due to a chance experience in Burma. Sharon Bierer and her husband Henrik Overgaard-Nielsen were holidaying in Burma, in March 2012 and this is where their inspiration first came into play. Sharon Bierer and dentist Henrik Overgaard-Nielsen are both dental professionals who own their own successful dental practice in London.

Dentaid is a British charity and organisation which is based on improving the world’s oral health. Dentaid’s offices and workshops are based in Landford and consist of a team of five. Dentaid is supported by a large number of British volunteers who give up their time and conduct hard work for Dentaid’s reputable cause. Dentaid is also in partnership with Oral-B. 

What is the HTM 01-05?

The HTM 01-05 which stands for Health Technical Memoranda is one of several guidance documents in a series if Health Technical Memoranda which give comprehensive advice and guidance on the design, installation and operation of specialised building and engineering technology used in the delivery of healthcare. The HTM 01-05 which was first published in 2009 specifically aims to “progressively raise the quality of decontamination work in primary care dental services by covering the decontamination of reusable instruments within dental facilities.”
