Oral Sedation

Ummmm... I'm pretty sure DN's are not allowed to actually prescribe/administer the midazolam(?)without strict supervision that would be crazy, the stuff is actually pretty dangerous.
I think that the sedation qual just makes the whole process safer and practices who regularly do sedation consider it gold standard for the nurse to have it. Could be wrong though.

Are dental nurses allowed to give oral sedation to patients without a dentist present? or do they have to have the sedation training/qualification?
