Aspirating struggles

There should be some nurse mirrors. Use the mirror to retract and the aspirator to aspirate. If there aren't any then use your finger to retract and ask to order some.

When I have an XL patient sit in the chair for a lower molar crown prep I also get out my wooden tongue paddle and duckbill large volume aspirator.

Try using a mouth mirror , I use it all the time because I’m left handed and I still struggle mainly on the older generation (I’ve been nursing for 12 years) as their lips and cheeks become more floppy . Place a mouth mirror to pull the lips or soft tissues out the way and use it as a guide to place your aspirator tube over it , it does give you more room

Hey!

I'm a trainee dental nurse and feel like I struggle aspirating, especially on the left hand side where it is closest to myself! Anyone got any tips or advice on aspirating in this area? Just feel like I always suck up the cheek/gums and constantly have the re position myself so any advice will be great!

Thanks x
