Radiography revision... help?

I have a radiography exam tomorrow, and iv got a revision sheet with questions on and 4 possible answers. This one is confusing me.... How would an x-ray film appear is it had been exposed to light before processing? answers given are... black, blank, pale, spotted.... my levisonssays none of these and says it appears fogged? Hence why I'm confused... PLEASE HELP x
