Pregnant Dental nurse - advice needed!

9 years 8 months ago #6313 by MrsW
Hi,
Congratulations :cheer:
When I was pregnant I would just leave the room when an xray was taken - just to be sure I was well out the way and we use amalgam capsules so that wasn't an issue. If you use an amalgamator that you have to refill with alloy and mercury, I would personally have asked someone else to do it for me......but if you don't want anyone to know yet, that will be difficult
Hope that helps a little!

hi,
i hope someone can help me with some info. i'm a full time dental nurse and just found out i'm pregnant. i don't want to tell my employers i'm pregnant just yet (still early) but i'm looking for some info regarding taking x-rays, i know i need to be 2meters away but is there any other precautions i should be taking during this time?
plus is the removal of old and the placement of new amalgam fillings ok for me to be nursing for. i wear a full face visor but still worried i may be putting myself/baby at risk!
i've read a lot of info on line but hoping someone on here will have the correct up to date info for me.
thanks for any help/info in advance.
x
