Future of dental nursing

I thought I would get a little discussion going on about what you think the future of dental nursing would be; Particularly when it comes to extended clinical skills. With the ever increasing skill set of NHS nurses with nurse practitioner roles and specialist roles, what do you think we might be able to do?

I know these days some nurses can do initial consultations and that is good but where do you think we can get to in this limited speciality that is dentistry? I think the administration of fissure sealants to children in nursery is a good start for us working "independently".

What do you guys think?
