Hi,
In my post above you will find:
"HTM 01-05 states:
"Brushes should be single use. Where they are
reusable, after each use, the brushes should be
washed in hot water using the manufacturer’s
recommended detergent, in order to remove
visible soil, and be stored dry and head up.
Or dispose of brushes if they are single-use.
Reusable brushes should be replaced at the
manufacturer’s recommended interval or more
frequently if the brush is seen to have
significantly deteriorated."
16.3.f

So in The HTM 01 05 is the answer. :)
You can down load it here, from the forum or from their web page.
You will find all the guidelines there for the decontamination aswell.

Hi guys,
I mentioned this to my practice manager today (o autoclave daily and replace once a week) and she asked where you guys found this out? Is it possible to get a book/download all of the guidelines for our sterilisation room?

HTM01-05 states that brushes should be autoclaved at the end of the day and replaced once a week .

Hope that helps :)

Hello Ali_Wells,
I agree, they don't need to be autoclave-able, but they need to be cleaned after every use and changed ever so often. :)

I'm not sure if they HAVE to be but ours are autoclavable. I would say we change it between 1 to 2 weeks. 2 weeks tops.
Basically when the bristles are too splayed!

Should the brush be autoclavable and how long before it should be changed ?
