Scope of Practice, Extended Duties of the Dental Nurse: Thinking Outside the Box.

DNN Support groupsDNN’s free online Zoom support sessions for dental nurses are back. These support sessions include enhanced verifiable CPD. We aim to run one free support session every two to three months.

Throughout the pandemic, DNN provided free online support sessions for dental nurses, and we would like to continue the trend this year.

Our support sessions include free enhanced verifiable CPD on subjects that are of interest to dental nurses. They also include discussion time. We are here to support you, and we look forward to seeing you at the next support session.

Join us for a live Zoom session on either:

Wednesday 19th April 2023 at 7pm or Saturday 22nd April 2023 at 10am – register here.

Free CPD hours: 1.5 hours

We will look at the Scope of Practice, Extended Duties of the Dental Nurse: Thinking Outside the Box.

The session will involve learning and peer discussion in a relaxed and supportive environment.

The aim of this session is to take a detailed look at the role the dental nurse currently has in the dental practice and discuss ways in which extended duties can be used to benefit patients, the team and ourselves. We will also be discussing the current GDC consultation on scope of practice and explain how you can have your say on the future scope for dental nurses.

The objectives are that at the end of the session you will be able to:

  • List the extended duties for members of the dental team.
  • Explain the benefits of using extended duties to improve patient experiences and access to dental care.
  • Be confident at presenting ways to integrate extended duties into the dental practice.
  • Consider other duties that could be undertaken by the dental team to help integrate with other healthcare providers.

DNN has always aimed to inspire and encourage dental nurses to develop their skills, further their careers and promote themselves in general dental practice. There appears to be a growing need within the dental industry to have opportunities to connect and discuss the issues that affect our daily working practice. The aim of our live sessions is to provide a chance to chat, discuss relevant issues and support each other as professionals.
