Decontamination of hollow dental instruments

7 years 5 months ago #7996 by scarybeats
Hi

Looking for some advise in relation to the decontamination of hollow/ lumen instruments such as dental hand pieces. Based in Scotland so following the SDCEP guidelines and not HTM 01-05.
Currently using a type N steriliser for all our instruments but after a recent handpiece maintenance workshop I am confused as manufacturer recommendations are to use a type B or S steriliser however it also says to follow "local policy". Also on further reading of SDCEP guidelines it looks as though it should be a type B or S being used - however it also says "follow manufacturer guidelines". Does anyone else have any more clarification on which type of steriliser we should be using in Scotland for hollow instruments such as hand pieces?
