The Mouth Cancer Foundation is joining with the British Dental Health Foundation to increase awareness of the deadly disease.
The UK sees more than 6,500 new cases diagnosed annually, with statistically one person dying every five hours from mouth cancer.
Dr Carter, Chief Executive of the British Dental Health Foundation, spoke to the Mouth Cancer Foundation explaining the importance of awareness of the disease and urgency in catching it in its early stages: “If the profession can inform and urge patients that regularly attending check-ups increases the chances of mouth cancer being detected at an early stage, together we can help to raise awareness of this killer disease."
Dr Vinod Joshi, Founder of the Mouth Cancer Foundation commends the two charities for “raising awareness about mouth cancer", saying "it makes total sense for us to join forces to make this November's Mouth Cancer Action Month a resounding success.”
The Mouth Cancer foundation is holding a 10km walk in Hyde Park, London, to raise awareness of the symptoms of mouth cancer on Sunday 29th September 2013.
