Judging by the governments site it looks like this is within the law, that being said though as a registered/on route to registration DN you should raise this if you think patient safety is at risk because it is affecting your work.

Rest breaks at work
Workers have the right to one uninterrupted 20 minute rest break during their working day (this could be a tea or lunch break), if they work more than 6 hours a day.

Daily rest
Workers have the right to 11 hours rest between working days, eg if they finish work at 8pm, they shouldn’t start work again until 7am the next day.

Weekly rest
Workers have the right to either:

an uninterrupted 24 hours without any work each week
an uninterrupted 48 hours without any work each fortnight

Ok so, I work very long hours through shift work, total of hours varies each week but my hourly rate never changes. On a 12 hour shift I only get a 1hr break :( . On a 6 hr shift I receive no break, is this fair? I feel I'm a slave!
