Overview
The Certificate in Intra-Oral Scanning enables dental nurses across the UK to complete their competency training in digital dental scanning (digital impressions) with flexibility and ease. To enrol, you must be GDC-registered, employed and indemnified, have access to a digital intra-oral scanner, and have a registered dental professional available and willing to supervise your training. It is ideal for dental nurses who want to treat patients directly by taking digital intra-oral scans under the prescription of a registered dentist or clinical dental technician, and it suits nurses working in both private practice and the NHS.
You will learn to take intra-oral scans for a wide and growing range of uses, including study models, orthodontic appliances and clear aligners, retainers, whitening trays, dentures and mouth guards. Scanning is also increasingly used to support oral health, from capturing new-patient baseline records to showing patients their own mouth in 3D, which makes it a powerful tool for oral health education and promotion.
Altogether, this training will strengthen your clinical skills, expand what you can offer your patients, and give them added confidence in your care through competency in the latest technology.
This course is only suited to those who have access to a digital scanner.
