Scope unlocked: what dental nurses are really allowed to do

The GDC’s revised Scope of Practice guidance came into effect on 1 November 2025. It did not change what dental nurses are able to do, but it is supposed to give greater clarity on the boundaries of each role and encourages dental professionals to use their professional judgement within them, as long as they are trained, competent and indemnified.
