Picture yourself taking on more responsibility…

Did you know that 94% of dentists want help from their team to do more for the business, and 51% of dentists are not doing enough of the clinical dentistry they are passionate about? In light of these statistics, if practice teams can work together to integrate systems to increase treatment acceptance, this will allow dentists to practise more of what they enjoy.

Dental photography is an essential part of every modern-day practice and should be integrated into systems and structures as it is a key communication tool between patients and the dentist. High quality pre-op photos help dentists explain problems and concerns during treatment plan presentations, allowing patients to see these for themselves and helping to manage expectations. This aids patient education, enabling patients to make an informed decision about their treatment options. It is also a fantastic communication tool with the laboratory and referral practice.

Furthermore, dental photography helps maintain patient records to a high standard, and also provides medical-legal protection should a claim ever arise. Also a great marketing tool, dental photography provides “before” and “after” pictures for website and advertising purposes… Obviously if you have the patient’s consent to do so!

Dental Photography, which involves an invaluable professional skills set, helps dental nurses forge strong relationships with patients. Dental nurses and other dental care professionals can gain specific knowledge in this field, allowing them to confidently develop personal careers.

Learning about dental photography
The first step to becoming involved in dental photography is by attending a course, which can take as little as a day. Delegates will be taught how to take a full series of photographs to BACD standard; use Photoshop and PowerPoint to manipulate photos for patient education, documentation and marketing; and the importance of using the correct camera and equipment, which is crucial for success.

Dentists are high-creed professionals and they need reassurance that like-minded individuals surround them. Telling your dentist that you want more responsibility will not only impress them, but will also allow them to practise more of what they love.
